If you have the pleasure of being with Stephanie Scott in a class then you know that she is strength in action-a focused tornado of energy at all times. Her beautiful smile and fantastic sense of humor can trick you into believing she's here just for a good time but soon enough you'll see her tuck jumps and realize when it comes to health, she just doesn't mess around.
What made you decide to start coming to Phoenix Fitness?
SS: I knew I would be at Phoenix Fitness before it even existed! I was a longtime SWAT member and I knew that wherever Marta, Emma and the crew went…that’s where I would be!
How often do you come to Phoenix Fitness?
SS: Usually it would be about 4 to 5 times a week…but a little less lately since I am six months pregnant and taking it a bit easier on the exercise (doctor’s orders!) But I will be back in full force soon.
What classes do you take and do you have a favorite?
SS: It’s like choosing a favorite child…I can’t! BODYSTEP, BODYCOMBAT, BODYATTACK, BODYPUMP, RPM, BODYFLOW, CXWORX…. I love ALL of the classes, depending on my mood or what my body needs that day. This year I fell in love with GRIT too. I hate every minute that I’m doing it, but the feeling after is like no other….and it really, really re-shapes your body.
What do you love about Phoenix Fitness?
SS: Phoenix Fitness is a really fun, empowering and supportive place to be. It feels like family. I truly believe that Phoenix Fitness has the best classes, best instructors and best PEOPLE in the area. I love Les Mills classes…but the energy and spirit here is why I’m so attached to “my gym”.
What advice do you have for new Phoenix Fitness members?
SS: Come join the Tribe…you won’t regret it. It might be intimidating at first to jump into the classes, but our instructors are so supportive and helpful that you will get the hang of things really quickly. I think the class setting not only is much more fun, it also pushes you out of your comfort zone and gets you some amazing results.
Outside of Phoenix Fitness-what are your favorite hobbies?
SS: I work full-time out of my home as a director of social media marketing, so my weeks are packed with balancing work and being a mom to a feisty four year old! But in my “spare time” I feel most myself when I’m creating something, whether it’s writing or visual design. Are online shopping and sending snarky text messages considered hobbies? No? Darn. (Editor's note: I would have to say they are FOR SURE legit hobbies). I also love any outdoor family activities or road trips. We have an old 1989 Winnebago RV our family loves to roll up to new places, Cousin Eddie style. (Editor's second note: Stephanie also does many of our really great Phoenix Fitness graphics! Thanks Stephanie!)
Share one thing people at Phoenix Fitness might not know about you.
SS: I’m really passionate about the environment and animals. My husband and I have rehabbed and released several dozen orphaned wild babies over the years. My absolute favorites are baby raccoons, who are about as smart as toddlers…and just as naughty too.
Thank you so much, Stephanie, for all you to do make Phoenix Fitness fly! We love having you part of the #phoenixtribe and can't wait to meet that new baby!
Come join us for our Les Mills re-launch blitz! After you've experienced our world class fitness programs and elite transformation team, make sure you take advantage of our membership promotion available this weekend only!! See you soon! Kia Kaha!
Michelle Brigman has a pretty great reason for not being on our current group fitness schedule, you’ll just have to read on to see why! Though she is sorely missed by all of us at Phoenix Fitness, we know when she is ready our members will be so happy to have her back-kicking their butts on the bike once again!
PF: How did you get started in Fitness?
MB: I've always been into sports and being active growing up, but as I've "aged", I realized it's more important to step up my goals before I step into "gain". I had joined Swat Fitness years ago and took on a personal trainer and then started to grow more interest from there!
PF: How did you choose Phoenix Fitness?
MB: EASY! The group fitness, but more importantly the group of amazing people that came with it!!
PF: What do you love about teaching?
MB: For me I found that I learned so much about myself teaching. I realized that being able to personally push others in class only in turn pushes me to drive harder! It's a sort of addiction being able to get the "fitness magic" through teaching Les Mills music and the drive and motivation it brings into our classes!
PF: What are a few of your go to healthy snacks?
MB: Right now I keep homemade trail mix on hand of unsalted almonds, walnuts, & dried cherries, also light string cheese and apples or cuties!
PF: Do you work outside teaching at Phoenix Fitness?
MB: Yes I'm a full time self employed hairstylist! Love my career!
PF: What are your hobbies outside of teaching at Phoenix Fitness?
MB: I love taking my dog Addison for walks downtown, and spending time with my hubby, family and friends....and just staying active in general. I'm a busy body. I don’t sit still very easily (Editor’s note: I think this is a common theme in all of our Transformation Team!)
PF: What is one thing people at Phoenix Fitness might not know about you?
MB: I'm a soon to be first time mom due Oct 2 and couldn't be more excited about it! I've unfortunately had to take a doctor ordered break from teaching RPM and vigorous exercise for a bit;...but it's all been worth it 100%. That being said, I CANT WAIT to get back onto an RPM bike and kick some booties along with my own to get back to my physical best!
Thank you so much Michelle! We are so excited to meet your little one and can’t wait for the day that you’re back on the bike at Phoenix Fitness!
