Barb Tomczak has been a Phoenix Fitness member from the very beginning and every time she’s in class she brings with her such great energy. Barb also just ran in one of the Borgess runs yesterday which further proves just how strong she works in class!
PF: What made you decide to start coming to Phoenix Fitness?
BT: Marta and the awesome trained, knowledgeable, Les Mills instructors. Nobody does it better! Other gyms in town have Les Mills classes (I've been there) and there is absolutely no comparison. I work at WMU and have a gym member benefit for another gym in town for practically free. I choose to be a part of the Phoenix fitness community.
PF: How often do you come to Phoenix Fitness?
BT: I try to come at least 4 times per week.
PF: Which classes do you take and do you have a favorite?
BT: I do BODYSTEP, CXWORX, BODYPUMP, BODYFLOW and GRIT. I love them all but BODYSTEP is my favorite!
PF: What do you love about Phoenix Fitness?
BT: I love the atmosphere. I love how the workouts make me feel. Happy endorphins all around. I'll call it a "Phoenix high." I always leave feeling great and am so thankful that I have such a great place to call my fitness community. I truly appreciate the skill level of the instructors. They are exceptionally well trained, energetic, motivating instructors who take the time to get to know each member as well as teach correct technique in order to prevent injury.
PF: What advice do you have for new Phoenix Fitness members or people curious about what we offer?
BT: There are so many classes to choose from. Give it a chance. Try out several classes. Not just once but for a week or two. It takes a few weeks to get the hang of a class but once you do there is no going back. You'll be happier and healthier! The first time I did a BODYFLOW class I struggled and didn't go back for a year! Big mistake! Then, I tried again and loved it. Now, it's one of my favorite classes. You'll find the perfect class for your fitness goals and make some great work out buddies at the same time.
PF: Outside of Phoenix Fitness-what are your favorite hobbies?
BT: I enjoy walking, running and reading - usually NY times bestsellers, or whatever Carol K. (a Phoenix Fitness friend) suggests.
PF: Share one thing people at Phoenix Fitness might not know about you.
BT: I've worked at WMU for 42 years! (Editor’s note: that seems impossible unless you started when you were 2!)
