Betsy Ross-Taylor is one of the hardest working members we have here at Phoenix Fitness. If you’ve been in class with her you know just how intensely she approaches each class. Betsy is an inspiration to both instructors and members alike with her no excuses approach to health and wellness.
PF: What made you decide to start coming to Phoenix Fitness?
BRT: I always knew I'd be a member of Phoenix Fitness! I was involved in Marta's former fitness community so I knew I wanted to be a part of Phoenix Fitness. I was certain she would bring in fantastic, Les Mills-trained, motivating instructors (she did!) and that I would be able to participate in the group fitness classes I love. I can work out anywhere (and I have!) but The Phoenix connects me with my workout friends and brings a positive energy into my life.
PF: How often do you come to Phoenix Fitness?
BRT: I try to come every day if possible.
PF: What classes do you take and do you have a favorite?
BRT: I do BODYCOMBAT, BODYPUMP, CXWORX, & GRIT regularly & I'm happy to be adding BODYATTACK to my "regulars" list. I do BODYFLOW & BODYSTEP occasionally. BODYCOMBAT is my favorite!
PF: What do you love about Phoenix Fitness?
BRT: I love that the Phoenix is not a place; it's a community of people sharing a culture of positivity.
PF: What advice do you have for new Phoenix Fitness members or people curious about what we offer?
BRT: Commit to making fitness part of your regular routine…and stick with it! Go. Go again. And keep on going. Getting to the gym is the hardest part; you'll always be glad you pushed yourself and, remember, there's going to be a room full of like-minded, awesome people, right there with you. (And, don't worry no one is staring or judging you; we were all new once too!)
PF: Outside of Phoenix Fitness-what are your favorite hobbies?
BRT: I enjoy reading -especially about health, nutrition, & clean eating (I'm about 95% Vegan), spending time outdoors, learning about new things, & relaxing with family, friends, and my dogs.
PF: Share one thing people at Phoenix Fitness might not know about you.
BRT: I have an uncommon form of recurring headaches (cluster headaches) that can be debilitating. During the cluster phase, I cannot do any jumping, pounding, or most any form of working out. Then I go into a complete remission until next time (every year & 1/2 -2 yrs). It's a huge challenge for me physically, but it's also very frustrating emotionally because working out is such a part of my daily life and an important stress reliever! So, I've learned to not take my health or my ability to work out for granted. Ever. I am fortunate to be able to make my body do what it can when it can. Therefore, I always strive to put 100% effort into my workouts.
