Keri Tice is today’s Member Monday feature. For anyone who has been in class with Keri Tice, you’ve surely seen the moment she hits her 3rd gear and pushes on despite being exhausted and out of breath. Keri Tice is just one of those members you look forward to having in class-you know she’ll inspire you to work harder and coach to another level too!
PF: What made you decide to start coming to Phoenix Fitness?
KT: Well the decision to come was easy, I love Les Mills classes and it was only 5 minutes from my house. I kept coming back because I love the environment. It is calm, but motivating, and it is just an awesome space!
PF: How often do you come to Phoenix Fitness?
KT: I try to come 4 to 5 times a week. My goal is to hit a couple of classes back to back if possible.
PF: What classes do you take and do you have a favorite?
KT: On a regular basis I take Bodypump, RPM, Bodycombat, GRIT, and Bodyflow. It's so hard to choose a favorite because I love all those for different reasons. If I had to choose I would go with Bodypump and RPM because those are the ones I have been doing for years and can still find ways to challenge myself to do more or work harder in them.
PF: What do you love about Phoenix Fitness?
KT: It has been said here before but I feel the same way, it is the community atmosphere that makes Phoenix Fitness fun. The instructors are motivating and supportive and so are the other members. It makes it easier to work hard and get the most out of your workout when you are immersed in a positive atmosphere.
PF: What advice do you have for new Phoenix Fitness members or people curious about what we offer?
KT: Always be willing to try. There are so many different opportunities with the variety of classes to try something new, but also within each class to take you to a new fitness level. Whether it's doing one more push up on your toes, turning the resistance on the bike a notch higher, or adding that extra bit of weight to your bar, it will make a difference if you just try it!
PF: Outside of Phoenix Fitness-what are your favorite hobbies?
KT: I do the usual running, biking, and walking my dog in the various parks in the area. I also enjoy spending a day in my kitchen cooking things from scratch. Or I am out and about with my friends...not sure if friends are considered hobbies, but they are fun and I enjoy them. J
PF: Share one thing people at Phoenix Fitness might not know about you.
KT: Well in Fall 2012, I ran my first half marathon (The Grand Rapids 1/2). I shouldn't say I was disappointed (but I was) with my time because it was an accomplishment nonetheless to just complete it. I took a break from running for a few months and focused on just my overall fitness with Les Mills classes. I started Run Camp in the winter of 2013 along with maintaining my other workouts. And did the Gazelle Girl half that April, which if anyone was there, knows that was the worst weather EVER! My finish time was 2:08, which was a whole 16 minutes faster than the GR 1/2. I've ran many more races of various distances and also competed in four sprint triathlons since then. Also, I'm really good at Pictionary.
