Phoenix Fitness is the premiere group fitness studio in Kalamazoo because our Transformation Team is second to none. We happen to believe our team members are really awesome not just because of how great they are in class but outside of class too. Julie Luginbill is a member of the Phoenix Fitness Transformation Team and is certified in Bodystep, Bodyvive and CXWORX.
PF: How did you get started in fitness?
JL: I’ve always been active and worked out so when Bodystep training was offered at my gym, I took advantage of the opportunity.
PF: You’re certified in Bodystep, Bodyvive and CXWORX. Do you have a favorite program to teach?
JL: I love them all for different reasons. Bodyvive and CXWORX for functional strength training and Bodystep for the amazing cardio it provides.
PF: What do you love about teaching?
JL: I love to challenge members to give 110% each and every time they walk through the door and I love seeing them actually do it. There really is nothing better than seeing members encourage and motivate each other as well. Seeing members accomplish something they didn’t think they could is a really cool perk of the job.
PF: How did you choose Phoenix Fitness?
JL: I’ve taken Les Mills classes at other facilities and it’s not the programs that make a gym special-it’s the energy and commitment brought by the members and top notch instructors. Phoenix Fitness provides a holistic approach to fitness-body, mind and spirit. I can’t imagine being anywhere else.
PF: What are a few of your go to healthy snacks?
JL: I love veggies with hummus. Yogurt and almonds are a few of my other favorites!
PF: Do you work outside of teaching at Phoenix Fitness?
JL: I work full time at Borgess Medical Center as the Manager of Volunteer Services. If you’re looking for an outstanding organization at which to volunteer, talk to me!
PF: What are your hobbies outside of teaching at Phoenix Fitness?
JL: I like to be outside in my garden. I like to cook too. Perhaps my favorite thing, though, is spending as much time as possible with the most adorable grandson on earth, Rowan. (Pictures below!)
PF: What is one thing members at Phoenix Fitness might not know about you?
JL: I grew up on a 1000 acre dairy farm.
