PF: How did you get started in Fitness?
MN: I’ve always been extremely active in my life. I started in gymnastics and then moved onto cheerleading in high school. I then continued with cheerleading while attending Western Michigan University. After I graduated it was hard not being part of a team and having that constant practice in my life. This is where my personal fitness goals came into play.
PF: How did you choose Phoenix Fitness?
MN: There really wasn’t another choice, if I can be brutally honest. I had been approached by other gyms in the area that offer Les Mills but I could tell they weren’t going to hold me to a high standard like Phoenix Fitness and I’m the kind of instructor who wants to be pushed.
PF: You are certified in BODYPUMP AND BODYATTACK, do you have a favorite to teach?
MN: If I had to choose it would be BODYPUMP just because it’s more my essence. I like gettin’ down and dirty, it just feels right.
PF: What do you love about teaching?
MN: Changing people’s lives! I love that I can attempt to get people to see what they are capable of. If I’m able to make a difference in someone’s life, even if it’s just a single “wahoo” in class then I feel as though I am serving my purpose.
PF: What are a few of your go to healthy snacks?
MN: Go to healthy snacks for me…oh jeez, one of my favorites is Think Thin protein bars. Even though protein bars aren’t the healthiest snack, they are quick, easy and satisfy my sweet tooth. I also love coconut almonds and Justin’s Almond Butter on a slice of Ezekiel bread.
PF: Do you work outside teaching at Phoenix Fitness?
MN: I just recently resigned at Bronson Outpatient Surgery Center where I worked on call as a PACU Nurse. I also teach gymnastics class at West Michigan Dance Center.
PF: What are your hobbies outside of teaching at Phoenix Fitness?
MN: I love enjoying the warm weather when it actually happens in Michigan. I’d say that grocery shopping is also a hobby of mine. I’m slightly addicted but one could argue that it’s the shopping that I’m addicted to. Editor’s note: she is definitely addicted. ☺
PF: What is one thing people at Phoenix Fitness might not know about you?
MN: One thing that the people at Phoenix Fitness don’t know about me is that I am the new owner of West Michigan Dance Center. A new adventure awaits me and I’m extremely excited for this endeavor. So if you have anyone who is interested in dancing, head on over to WMDC!!!
Thank you, Megan, for taking time out of your newly crazy busy schedule to chat! And thank you for bringing in so many people to Phoenix Fitness, your support and hard work is appreciated!
