PF: How did you get started in Fitness?
DB: My fitness career really started in my late 20s. I read a flyer from the Kalamazoo Area Runners about training for the Bayshore Marathon. I went from being a non-runner to running my first marathon in six months. Completing the marathon really gave me the fitness confidence I needed. I joined SWAT and started attending BODYPUMP and RPM. From that point on fitness became part of my life.
PF: How did you choose Phoenix Fitness?
DB: I truly love motivating people to push themselves beyond their limits in RPM class. When Marta asked me to join the Phoenix Fitness team, I was extremely grateful!
PF: What do you love about teaching?
DB: There are many things I love about teaching! First of all, it is extremely rewarding to provide a fitness experience where each member truly exceeds his/her own expectations. Second, I enjoy meeting new people and helping them achieve their fitness goals. Third, the music and choreography make teaching RPM so invigorating.
PF: What are a few of your go to healthy snacks?
DB: A few of my go-to favorite snacks are carrots with almond butter and blueberries with almonds.
PF: Do you work outside teaching at Phoenix Fitness?
DB: Yes, I am a literacy consultant and instructional coach for Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency.
PF: What are your hobbies outside of teaching at Phoenix Fitness?
DB: Outside of teaching at Phoenix, my newest hobby is GRIT! I'm calling it a hobby so that hopefully it helps me learn to love this intense 30 minute workout! Also, I enjoy anything outdoors with family and friends.
PF: What is one thing people at Phoenix Fitness might not know about you?
DB: One thing that Phoenix Fitness members may not know about me is that I have biked the mountains in the Alps and the Pyrenees, so when I say, "add another gear to feel this mountain climb," I speak from experience. :)
That is seriously amazing Debbie!! Thank you so much for bringing your real world biking experience to our members! We are grateful for your hard work on their behalf!
